Q How did you come to be known and why is there so much controversy surrounding the name 'XJ9'?
XJ9 I frequently posted my stream in the General Discussion section of the League of Legends forums. I advertised myself as a 2.1k ELO female gamer who played Leblanc and I maintained that identity by not talking or using a web-cam. I got temporarily forum banned for "spamming" and then when I was finally unsuspended I made a thread asking what top laner I should main, which got me permanently banned off the forums for no reason. So, since the beginning I have been an exile of sorts. Given how I was shunned and unable to advertise I ended up playing a lot of solo queue and didn't stream at all. It was during this time that I moved onto Jungle and starting maining Vi and practicing her a lot completely under the radar. Around April of 2012 I started "dating" a guy named Josh who, like many others, believed that I was a girl. Despite how he sucked at the game and held me back and how our relationship was based on lies, I kept him in my life because he truly was the only one I had at the time and afterall, we did enjoy each other's company. Innevitably, he discovered I was a guy and we broke ties. No longer encumbered by the burden of having to play with Josh, I went from 2200 ELO to 2800 within 3 weeks and streamed the entire climb on own3d.tv. I averaged extremely high viewers and became one of the most popular streamers at the time.
Q Was there any correlation between you playing leblanc 'The Deceiver' or was that just a coincidence?
XJ9 It was honestly just a coincidence, it's very fitting but the main reason I played her is because I hated it when people said "Oh she sucks, never pick her, her late game is garbage." I found her late game fine and that's why I played her. I like being hipster as hell, but I am not a fail hipster, I will succeed.
Q To this day you're somewhat of a legend in the scene of top players with your Jungling skills. Many Junglers, most notably Meteos, has stated that he took influence from you and is now considered one of the best himself. Were you inspired by anyone in particular or did you invent your own style?
XJ9 No, I dislike pretty much every pro player out there because of their personality and how overrated they are. I have never watched a stream and learned something from it, this means individual players and tournaments included. I taught myself to play, I realized efficiency is the best for consistently winning games, not copying what everyone else is doing for the given month. I don't like being the same as others, I like being different. I am different without trying.
Q You had countless followers, you were being called the best Jungler NA, and everything was looking up. Then, from your followers' points of view you were suddenly permanetly banned from League of Legends and Twitch. Why did this happen?
XJ9 This is the order of the responses I received from Twitch regarding my permanent suspension:
XJ9 As far as being banned from League of Legends, I was banned for a multitude of things. One reason being because of a "death threat" my brother made on my account, another being that I hacked Gem's account and intentionally got her banned from the forums. When I realized that she never really loved me and only used me to get to Diamond I got on her account and started spamming the forums with foul language and anything I could to get her banned. I couldn't handle knowing that every time she had said "I love you" it was just her way of exploiting my longing for a loving relationship to get what she wanted out of me. In the midst of all of this I had a girlfriend who was completely crazy. She would ignore me for weeks at a time for attention, and this one night in particular when she finally decided to speak to me again she told me to carve her name into my wrist with a knife if I wanted to maintain a relationship with her. Of course I refused and when I did, she logged off and I didn't hear from her again. Outraged, I logged onto her account and purposefully lost five games in a row to spite her. This was the hacking Riot talked about. Basically, Twitch banned me because they don't want to support a player that Riot has removed from their game. Also, here's a ticket I sent to Riot where they just brush me off:
XJ9 What I did wasn't right. I was drunk with depression and stress, my mind was completely asunder. I acted rash. That's not who I am. I beg of the community and of Riot to give me one last chance. I wholeheartedly apologize for my actions. I apologize to my fans for not being the role model I should have been. I just want to come back into the game and be a different person. Please hear me out.
